Product Description
The CJMCU CS5460A Single-Phase Two-Way Energy Metering Module is a high-performance power and energy measurement module based on the CS5460A energy measurement IC. It is designed for single-phase power monitoring and can measure important electrical parameters such as real energy, instantaneous power, IRMS, and VRMS.
The CS5460A integrates two high-resolution ADC channels, high-speed power calculation functions, energy-to-pulse conversion, and a serial communication interface into a single chip. One measurement channel is used for voltage sensing and the other for current sensing, making the module suitable for single-phase 2-wire or 3-wire power metering applications.
The module supports current measurement using a suitable shunt resistor or current transformer and voltage measurement through a resistive divider or potential transformer. Its bi-directional serial interface allows communication with a microcontroller, while the pulse output can provide a frequency proportional to real power.
A built-in Auto-Boot mode allows the CS5460A to initialize from an external serial EEPROM, enabling operation without a dedicated microcontroller in suitable applications. The module also supports AC/DC system calibration and phase compensation, making it suitable for accurate energy-monitoring and power-metering systems.

Working Principle
The CS5460A uses two ADC channels to simultaneously measure voltage and current. The voltage sensing circuit provides a scaled representation of the AC or DC voltage, while the current sensing circuit provides a proportional signal from a shunt resistor or current transformer.
The IC processes these signals digitally to calculate parameters such as instantaneous power, real energy, RMS voltage, and RMS current. The calculated data can be accessed through the serial interface by a suitable microcontroller.
The module can also generate output pulses proportional to measured real power, allowing the pulse output to be used for energy metering or external counting systems.
Auto-Boot Mode
The CS5460A features a Smart Auto-Boot mode that allows the IC to initialize itself using configuration and calibration information stored in an external serial EEPROM.
When configured appropriately, the module can perform its measurement functions without requiring a microcontroller for initialization. This can help simplify the overall system design and reduce component requirements.
Calibration
The CS5460A includes functions for AC and DC system calibration. Calibration can be used to compensate for measurement errors caused by the sensing circuit and external components.
The device also provides voltage-to-current phase compensation, which can be useful in AC energy measurement applications where accurate real-power calculations are required.
Communication Interface
The module provides a simple three-wire digital serial interface for connection to a suitable microcontroller or digital system. The measured electrical parameters can be read and processed by an external controller for display, data logging, automation, or IoT energy-monitoring applications.

Product Disclaimer
This module is intended for power and energy measurement applications and may require suitable external voltage and current sensing components depending on the intended measurement range.
The module should not be connected directly to hazardous mains voltage unless the appropriate voltage-divider, transformer, isolation, protection, and current-sensing circuits are correctly implemented. Working with mains electricity can cause electric shock, fire, or serious injury. Proper electrical isolation and safety precautions must be followed.
Actual measurement accuracy depends on the external sensing components, PCB design, calibration, wiring, temperature, and operating conditions.
