Product Description

The PZEM-004T V3.0 AC Single-Phase Energy Meter Module is a compact energy monitoring module designed to measure important electrical parameters of a single-phase AC supply. It can monitor voltage, current, active power, energy consumption, frequency, and power factor, making it suitable for real-time electrical monitoring and power analysis.

The module supports an 80–260 V AC voltage range and current measurement up to 10 A, with active power measurement up to 2300 W. It provides accurate digital measurements and is particularly useful for embedded systems where electrical data needs to be collected and processed by a microcontroller or computer.

Unlike conventional energy meters, the PZEM-004T V3.0 does not include a built-in display. Instead, measured data can be accessed through its TTL serial interface using the Modbus RTU protocol, allowing easy integration with Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and other compatible controllers.

The module also features non-volatile energy memory, allowing cumulative energy consumption data to be retained during power interruptions. Its compact design makes it suitable for smart energy monitoring, IoT systems, automation, solar applications, and AC appliance analysis.

Working Principle

The PZEM-004T V3.0 measures the electrical parameters of a single-phase AC circuit and internally processes the measured voltage and current signals.

It calculates parameters such as active power, power factor, frequency, and accumulated energy consumption from the measured electrical characteristics. The collected data can then be requested by a connected controller through the TTL serial interface using Modbus RTU communication.

The cumulative energy value is stored in non-volatile memory, helping retain the recorded energy consumption even when the module loses power.

Communication and Interfacing

The PZEM-004T V3.0 can be connected to a compatible microcontroller or computer through its TTL serial interface.

It can be integrated with:

  • Arduino
  • ESP32
  • ESP8266
  • Raspberry Pi with suitable UART/TTL interface
  • STM32
  • Other compatible microcontrollers
  • PC-based monitoring systems

The Modbus RTU interface allows the host controller to request electrical measurement data and incorporate it into a custom monitoring or automation system.
