Precision Control

Unlike basic sensors, the HC-SR501 offers complete control over its operation via two onboard potentiometers:

1. Sensitivity Adjustment (Distance): Adjust the detection range from 3 meters up to 7 meters.

2. Time Delay Adjustment: Control how long the output stays HIGH after motion is detected (adjustable from 5 seconds to roughly 200 seconds).

Optimized Design

The module features a high-sensitivity dual-element infrared sensor covered by a Fresnel lens, which widens the detection angle to less than 140°. Its ultra-low power consumption (<60uA) makes it perfect for battery-operated burglar alarms and automatic lighting systems

Adjustment Tips:

• Sensitivity Pot: Turn Right (Clockwise) to Increase distance (up to 7m); Turn Left to Reduce (down to 3m).

• Time Pot: Turn Right (Clockwise) to Increase delay time (up to 200s); Turn Left to Reduce (down to 5s).

• Warm-Up: When first powered on, the PIR sensor requires a “settling time” of about 30-60 seconds to calibrate to the room’s ambient IR levels. During this time, it may trigger falsely.
