FSR-402 Force Sensitive Resistor
Product Description
The FSR-402 Force Sensitive Resistor is a thin, flexible, round pressure sensor that detects changes in applied force by varying its electrical resistance. As pressure increases on the sensing surface, the sensor’s resistance decreases, providing a simple way to detect touch, pressure, and grip force.
With a 0.5-inch (14.7mm) circular sensing area and an approximate force range of 100g to 10kg, the FSR-402 is suitable for robotics, wearable electronics, human-machine interfaces, pressure-sensitive controls, and experimental sensing applications.
The sensor features a simple 2-wire connection with approximately 2.54mm pin spacing, making it convenient to connect to Arduino, ESP32, and other microcontrollers using a basic voltage-divider circuit.
Pressure-Sensitive Operation
The FSR-402 has a very high resistance when little or no force is applied. As pressure is applied to the sensing area, its resistance gradually decreases.
This changing resistance can be converted into a measurable voltage using a resistor divider, allowing a microcontroller to detect different levels of applied pressure.
Thin & Flexible Design
Its ultra-thin and lightweight construction makes the FSR-402 easy to integrate into compact mechanisms, wearable devices, robotic grippers, and custom pressure-sensitive surfaces.

Working Principle
The FSR-402 operates by changing its electrical resistance in response to applied mechanical force. When force is low, the resistance is high. As force increases, the resistance decreases.
The resistance change can be measured using a voltage-divider circuit connected to an analog input of a microcontroller. The resulting voltage can then be used to detect touch, pressure, or relative force changes.
