Product Description

The Omron 5V Solid State Relay Module is a compact switching module designed to control AC loads up to 240 V and 2 A using a low-voltage 5 V DC control signal. It uses a solid-state relay for electronic switching without the mechanical contacts found in conventional relays, making it suitable for applications requiring frequent switching.

The module features a low-level trigger input, where a signal between 0–1.5 V turns the relay ON, while a 2.5–5 V signal turns it OFF. It operates from a 5 V DC supply and has a compact size of approximately 56.6 × 55.4 × 24 mm.

An onboard 240 V 2 A resistive fuse provides additional protection for suitable loads. The module is suitable for automation, Arduino projects, embedded systems, and AC load switching applications.

Working Principle

The module uses a solid-state relay to electronically switch an AC load based on the input control signal. When the trigger input is at a low level of 0–1.5 V, the relay switches ON and allows the connected AC load to operate.

When the input signal is raised to 2.5–5 V, the relay switches OFF and disconnects the load. The solid-state design provides electronic switching without mechanical contacts.

Product Disclaimer

This module is designed for AC load switching only according to its specified output ratings. Do not exceed the stated 240 V AC / 2 A output rating. Actual load capacity depends on load type, temperature, wiring, and operating conditions.

Working with mains voltage can cause electric shock, fire, or serious injury. Proper insulation, enclosure, wiring, and safety precautions must be used. Installation and mains-voltage connections should be performed by a qualified person.

The stated fuse rating is intended for suitable resistive loads and does not guarantee protection for every type of load.

Product images are shown for illustrative and representational purposes only. The actual product colour, dimensions, component placement, and appearance may vary slightly depending on the manufacturing batch.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What type of relay is this?

It is a 5 V Omron solid-state relay module designed for AC load switching.

2. What is the input voltage?

The module requires a 5 V DC input.

3. What is the maximum output rating?

The specified output rating is up to 240 V AC and 2 A.

4. What is the trigger logic?

It uses low-level triggering.

5. When does the relay turn ON?

The relay turns ON when the trigger signal is between 0 and 1.5 V.

6. When does the relay turn OFF?

The relay turns OFF when the trigger signal is between 2.5 and 5 V.

7. Can I control it with Arduino?

Yes. It can be controlled using a suitable Arduino or other 5 V-compatible control signal.

8. Does it have a fuse?

Yes. The module includes a 240 V 2 A resistive fuse.

9. Can it switch DC loads?

The specified output is for AC switching, so it should not be used as a general-purpose DC relay unless the relay's specific datasheet confirms DC switching capability.

10. What is the module size?

The approximate dimensions are 56.6 × 55.4 × 24.0 mm.

11. Is this a mechanical relay?

No. It is a solid-state relay, so it does not use conventional mechanical switching contacts.
