MAX30100 Pulse Oximeter Heart Rate Sensor Module

The Heart Rate click features Maxim’s MAX30100, an integrated pulse oximetry and heart-rate sensor. This optical sensor utilizes two LED wavelengths, red and infrared, to measure the absorbance of pulsing blood through a photodetector. The specific LED color combination is optimized for fingertip readings.

The sensor’s signal is processed by a low-noise analog signal processing unit and communicated to the target microcontroller through the mikroBUS I2C interface. It’s important for developers of end-user applications to be aware that readings can be affected by excessive movement, temperature changes, and high pressure, which may constrict capillary blood flow and reduce data reliability. The module operates on a 3.3V power supply and includes a programmable INT pin.
