The Night Vision Sensitive Infrared Light 3W for Raspberry Pi Camera is a compact IR illumination module designed to add night vision capability to compatible Raspberry Pi camera systems. It uses an onboard photoresistor to detect ambient light and automatically controls the infrared LED according to the surrounding brightness.

An onboard adjustable resistor allows users to set the ambient light threshold at which the infrared LED switches ON or OFF. This makes the module useful for Raspberry Pi-based surveillance and monitoring systems that need automatic illumination in low-light or dark environments.

Design and Construction

The module features a compact PCB design with an infrared LED, photoresistor, adjustable resistor, and control circuitry. The photoresistor continuously detects the surrounding ambient light level, while the adjustable resistor allows the user to configure the switching threshold.

Its small and lightweight construction makes it convenient for integration with Raspberry Pi camera-based surveillance systems without adding significant bulk.

Working Principle

The onboard photoresistor detects the intensity of ambient light. When the surrounding environment becomes darker than the configured threshold, the module activates its infrared LED to provide additional illumination for a compatible night vision camera.

As the ambient light increases, the module can switch the infrared illumination OFF. The adjustable resistor allows the user to change the light level at which the IR LED is triggered.

This automatic operation helps provide illumination during nighttime or low-light conditions without requiring manual switching.
