Design and Construction
The RC522 Mini RFID module features a compact PCB design that integrates the MFRC522 RFID controller and antenna into a small form factor. Its lightweight construction makes it convenient for installation in embedded systems, prototypes, portable devices, and custom electronic enclosures.
The integrated RFID antenna enables the module to communicate wirelessly with compatible 13.56MHz RFID cards and tags. The compact board design helps reduce the space required for RFID functionality in electronic projects.
The module provides convenient interface connections for communication with a host microcontroller. Its SPI interface makes it easy to connect to development boards and embedded controllers that support SPI communication.
The RC522 is designed for 3.3V operation, making it suitable for many modern microcontrollers and development boards. Proper voltage-level compatibility should be maintained when connecting the module to a controller.

Working Principle
The RC522 works by generating a 13.56MHz electromagnetic field through its integrated antenna. When a compatible RFID card or tag is placed within the reader’s operating range, the module establishes contactless communication with the RFID device.
The MFRC522 chip handles the RFID communication and exchanges data with the compatible card or tag. The card information is then processed by the connected microcontroller through the SPI interface.
A microcontroller can use the received RFID information to identify a user, verify access permissions, record attendance, track inventory, activate a lock, or perform other programmed actions.
For supported cards, the module can also perform appropriate read and write operations depending on the card type, authentication requirements, memory structure, and software implementation.
The RC522 is a passive RFID interface module and requires a compatible microcontroller and suitable software to process card information and control the connected application.

Product Disclaimer
Product images are shown for illustrative and representational purposes only. The actual product may vary slightly in colour, dimensions, PCB layout, antenna pattern, component arrangement, or appearance depending on the manufacturing batch.
RFID cards, RFID tags, microcontrollers, connecting wires, breadboards, power supplies, enclosures, and other components shown in product images are not included unless specifically mentioned in the package contents.
The RC522 is designed for 13.56MHz RFID applications and is not compatible with common 125KHz RFID cards. Please verify that the RFID card or tag being used is compatible with the module before installation.
The module is intended for 3.3V operation. Avoid applying 5V directly to the module’s power or logic connections unless an appropriate voltage-level conversion arrangement is used. Improper voltage may damage the module.
Compatibility with Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, Raspberry Pi, STM32, and other controllers depends on the available SPI interface, software libraries, wiring configuration, and operating voltage.
