Innovative Thermal Suction

Unlike sensors that require noisy external fans, the DSM501A uses a smart built-in heater. This heater warms the air inside the module, creating an upward thermal draft (convection current) that naturally draws external air into the sensing chamber for analysis. This design ensures quiet operation and low maintenance.

Easy Integration

Designed for makers and engineers, the module operates on a standard 5V power supply and provides a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) output. This makes it incredibly easy to interface with microcontrollers like Arduino or ESP32. You can measure the “low pulse occupancy time” to calculate particle concentration.

Installation & Labeling:

1. Mounting Orientation: Because this sensor relies on rising heat for airflow, it MUST be mounted vertically (with the connector facing down) to function correctly. Laying it flat will prevent air from circulating through the sensor.

2. Label Variation: The product label may read DSM501B. Please note that the DSM501A and DSM501B are functionally identical in pinout and performance.

3. Warm-Up: Allow the sensor to run for 1–3 minutes after powering on to let the heater stabilize the airflow.
