Working Principle

The TCS34725 uses integrated photodiodes to measure the intensity of red, green, blue, and clear light. Incoming light reaches the sensor, and the individual color channels measure the corresponding light components.

An integrated IR blocking filter reduces infrared wavelengths reaching the color-sensing photodiodes. Since infrared light is not perceived as visible colour by humans, reducing this component helps improve the accuracy of color measurements.

The measured digital values are accessed by the connected microcontroller through the I2C interface. Adjustable gain and integration time allow the sensor to be configured for different light levels.


IR Blocking Filter
